Cover Reveal, Writing Steamy, and Something HOT on APRIL 1

LIGHTS OFF
I never imagined that I'd write something steamy one day. NEVER.

When Mina announced the call for #steamyreads late last year, I was hesitant at first. I've written a romance novella before but it was less than level one, which meant that the most action that my LI and MC got was kissing which leads to consummation off screen.

I wasn't really keen on joining the class until the original plot bunny (OPB) popped out which came out to be Olivia Rivera and Jacob Pecson's love (hi)story. The OPB was so messy, complicated, and challenging so when it came to me, I knew that I couldn't let it pass.

So fast forward to January 2014, Mina assigned certain tropes where I got The One That Got Away, a perfect fit to my OPB.

I was confident that I'd finish before the first deadline (Feb 15) until I saw Starting Over Again which was a 80% match to my OPB (same character motivations, same conflict, same ENDING). So I had to change, rewrite my outline, change major plots, and WRITE.

So for the next two weeks, I wrote whenever I can (save for THE SCENE). I wrote during free time then snuck in a couple of chapters when there wasn't much work to do in my day job. My editor, Maru, sort of made miracles happen when she finally turned in her edits for my draft. So after almost a month of writing like a mad woman, final edit and cover (another story) done, Lights Off made the cut in Buqo's #steamyreads.

Was it fun? YES. Was it difficult? HELL YEAH. But after seeing everything, with encouragement and motivation from the #buqosteamreads people, I finally managed to conquer my fear of writing something that was out of my comfort zone.

So come APRIL 1st, you'll get a glimpse of Olivia and Jacob's story. :)

Broadway star Olivia Rivera runs her life as if it was her biggest performance. She had a script: travel, become famous, and prove herself. Things get shaky when the sultry and equally ambitious Jacob Pecson makes a comeback in her life. Jacob had a mission of his own: to turn Olivia's life around.

With their paths crossing again, will she stick with her 'script' or will she finally give in to what she really desires?

Mic Test

Hello Everyone! :)

So after setting up this blog more than a week ago, I finally found the time to write my "obligatory" welcome post.

I'm quite bad at introductions so let's keep this short then we can move on to bacon later. I'm Asha, and Tales from the Other Side is my official blog.

I never pictured myself as a romance writer until I decided to join #buqosteamyreads (check us out on twitter, the tweets are hilarious!) last year. Mina V. Esguerra facilitated the "class". I wrote a short story called "Lights Off" (excerpt and cover reveal coming soon!) which will be exclusively available under Buqo. :)

This is where you'll find stories my about writing, living a double life, and everything in between.

So....
